For anybody who might be wondering...no, the 088 you see on the cassettes has absolutely nothing to do with racist/fascist bullshit, it is the Folkvangr catalogue number of this tape release...just a bad coincidence that the Norse mythology-themed project came up on that number! I've said it before and I'll say it again: Burden of Ymir is anti-racist and anti-fascist...you can listen in good conscience

Nothingness stretches wide Ginnungagap, the great void Fire of Muspell Cold of Niflheim Hvergelmir sending the waves Venomous vapor aggregates Elivagar flowing to rime Life will spring forth in time Hoarfrost within the dark From deep within a new life will spark Waves of ice forming the center Soon a giant will emerge Darkness retreats The void shrinks Primordial forces Merging within the ice
3.
Poison from a river within the void Ginnungagap, filling its center with the first one Deep within the hoarfrost A new spark springs to life Ymir, the first to live And the first to die Now far beyond the void To soon become the world From he, the jotnar And the new home of man The giant feasts upon Audumbla Soon the dwarven light shall break unto the realm Soon new life shall dwell among the corpse And Aesir will rise in time
4.
Yggdrasil reaches out to the realms Serpents beneath the roots spilling their poison The great wells sit beneath the boughs And a mighty dragon stirs Later the gallows traded for wisdom Now branching out a new place for man All of the realms ringing the extent The world tree, the great ash Sitting beneath the new realm Still growing strong, reaching out with a new branch The three norns sit at its base, weaving the fate of all life Four great stags patrol the land Source of all cosmology Aesir shall soon make this their meeting grounds A new arm from the world tree A new home for new creations The three norns have seen the end Weaving fate for all who will come One among Aesir, one with the jotnar And the third in Niflheim A graceful eagle soars high above Ratatoskr travels the trunk Yggdrasil, home to the nine expanses A new branch reaches leading the way for the center
5.
We are jotnar, we stand above Spawn of the earliest one, roaming the new world From left arm of Ymir and the mighty frost legs For now we rule the land at Ymir's cold left hand Giants, every last one, all bow to their command The jotnar before their own home, soon destined to die But now they stand tall above the rest Icy veins, mired in cold, to drown in blood as was foretold So was said in our tales passed down from old Before Jotunheim the giants walked the land Building from ruins with cold hands Among the early living, kin of Bergelmir A time long since forgotten, descending from Ymir We are jotnar, we stand above We rule the land until the sanguine flood
6.
Sons of Borr, he of ancient Buri And of Bestla, early of the jotnar Meeting to create a bright triumvirate In a land where young beings thrive, three more shall find their way Of the most ancient, the new ones seek to build the middle high Odin, the highest, Vili, and Ve First of the mighty Aesir Before the golden halls, a new world must be made Grimnir and brothers blaze through a land primordial and unformed A giant awaits his own demise, the first to fall by new ambition Rule of the giants shall come to an end Violence flowing, it must be unleashed And now the aspiration boils over into fate Descended of primordial and jotnar, heading into battle unafraid
7.
The young Aesir soon launch their attack But the mightiest of giants will strike back Ymir braces for the assault Raising cold hands in the air, soon to give up all Siblings set out to slay the first Hunger for blood, they must quench their thirst Odin, Vili, Ve Changing the course of life Gaping wound opens on his throat Ymir's blood pours forth, as the fates wrote
8.
After the battle Ymir now lies still Young three stand above, winning by strength and will The thunderous clashing has come to an end The giant's great wound will never mend The last two jotnar riding above the waves Blood is flowing, flooding the realm For first giants, the end of days Ymir's wound filling the landscape around Blood of the fallen, red oceans churn From his corpse a new world shall rise Odin, Vili, and Ve, victory shines in their eyes Exsanguinate the first made The Aesir go forth to create Crimson waters filling the land
9.
The titan's corpse provides all of the material Odin and brothers crafting the world, a new branch they will now fill Earth from flesh, mountains from bones The red flowing blood becomes the sea within a new world unknown Skullcraft sky with dwarven pillars North, South, East, and West carry the burden above And a new center raised up by Aesir Lashing the lashes to craft the home Enclosed by the giant's great brow Descendents of mankind shall call this new world home But they will not inhabit the great tree alone The burden of Ymir, the greatest, the first to die The world from his body, from his skull the sky Oldest of giants taken down by the Aesir Of this tale, all will someday hear
