The norns three At the well of fate Hearing the words and weaving the web Now Odin seeks what they will say Traveling to Yggdrasil to find out what has gone wrong Allfather goes to the tree, on his lips a song Where are the warriors fallen new Something is not quite right Grimnir goes seeking the word of the spinners Traveling on Sleipnir by night Sensing imbalance And leaving Asgard Warriors fallen cannot be foresaken Odin's next journey now starts On to the well Beneath the leaves To consult the norns about what has gone wrong At the base of the world tree Traveling through realms, prepared to fight Spear and runes are in hand On goes the Allfather to seek the norns' land

Whispers from branch to trunk Stirring the passions of all Word of imbalance, a third half emerged An actor overseeing the fall Splitting the slain away from Asgard Warriors robbed of reward Now comes the time to reclaim the lost For this, the rumors did serve The norns have spoken, word has come down The time to act approaches us now Trouble has risen for warriors true Allfather guide them to battles new Valhalla or Fólkvangr, Odin or Freyja Meddling has cut off the way Journey again to make this right Opponents will know fear this day Knowledge is gained, spear is in hand The strands of fate have been spun With thought and memory providing insight Until the day is won Seeking the truth, guiding the fallen The task of Ymir's slayer To find valkyries' targets and halt perpetration Freeing the strong einherjar
4.
Through roots as light Descending again Ancient magic, runes and strife Allfather must make this right Yggdrasil, door to realms many Vast are its roots down to Helheim Chosen path to face foes plenty Runic wisdom guiding to the end Imbalance to make right Once more through Aesir speed aiding approach One eye to the task at hand

Home to death, all is dark Loki offspring, perpetual sorrow Landscape bleak, daughter's realm What root has blackened, whence does it seek Entrance cold, the stench of decay The master has broken the einherjars' way Tipping the balance for heralding days of Ragnarok Fallen low, seeking new prey Violating the oath taken that day Preparing the realm for time when monsters have come Looking across the endless death And seeing darkened fate of men Chilling thought, borne of low realm Though crowing is heard not this day But Ragnarok comes soon and we shall be prepared Daughter of Loki, warrior theft For this she must be undone Now the Allfather surveys the land of dead

Einherjar, army of one Those who stand alone Barred from Valhalla by Loki's offspring on her throne Motives for end times Taken to Helheim But now Odin's come to set you off to your reward Allfather's army, strong and true Swords ever at their sides When enemies rise to oppose Aesir They will fight for grim One-Eye Odin's army, strong and brave Never afraid to die When monsters seek to end Aesir They will fight in the end times Free the army of one Now we slay hordes in our path To leave this place of death Allfather and the einherjar, their foes shall not yet rest To return to Valhalla to feast and fight Until the end times come Odin and the einherjar, their work is not yet done

Garmr Howls 04:18
Hound of Hel guarding the gates Waiting to rip flesh from bone When in its realm life is at stake Entering the demon dog's home Howling a death cry, preceding a downfall Murder upon its breath Guarding the offspring, tearing its victims Upon demon daughter's command I've seen such beasts in my time But the hound is vicious as any Its howl sends chill up the spine And the bodies of its victims plenty Garmr guards the gate to Helheim Blood soaked fangs laid bare Sending terror through intruders Howling fills the air Loosening life from hosting flesh Delight for the demon hound But Odin's might clears the way A path through its lair is found On to the end, toward the goal Freeing those to their reward Slaying undead, defeating the hound Cutting through Hel's ghoulish horde Allfather sees and Allfather knows Spear enters demonic form Helheim is weakening, as is the master As minions' blood flows warm Death to enemies of One-Eyed Grimnir Wielder of wisdom and runes Now comes the time of confrontation To gift Hel her high Aesir wounds
9.
Runic circle summons undead Etched into the ground Hel resorts to Midgard's fallen A shambling army is found Those interred improper Rising once again Brought to Helheim under a spell To face a second end Defiled, forced to fight their kin Clashing with the rotting draugr, the einherjar shall win Desecrate, Hel's desperation brought these To stand against their brothers, to try to force them to their knees Blackened visage, ripped and torn Falling from their bones All fallen in Midgard Some fighting for their homes But all at last were not set right Their graves would not suffice Now they rise through Hel's runes Flesh as cold as ice
10.
An end in sight Storming to the gate Time to reclaim what was lost Now to make right Back to Asgard And leave Hel to her betrayal cost Slashing and hacking all those in our path No time to delay our leave Back to Valhalla to drink and to fight And set right the norns' fated weave Pounding our foes to dust one by one Hel's horde of minions has paid Now we move on to leave this dark place Her own downward fate she has made Einherjar and the Allfather are leaving But the master herself yet waits A showdown is certain but the end is near With all in our path laid to waste Raise horns to the Allfather Hel now appears With anger burning bright Odin readies spear and runes The final battle of the day now comes The einherjar shall make it through Thought and memory Ravens hold high Allfather prepares to attack A clashing of figures to tremble Midgard Opponents will all be set back

As Hel blocks the way Odin stands his ground Gungnir bites into foe's flesh The runes, they have been cast The final obstacle is in our path Clashing steel ringing through the air Odin's army, legion Lending strength to his To cast the opponent down Sigils lending defense, an eye on each move As Hel crashes to the ground Fighting for the einherjar, to guide them to their feast Might of the Allfather slaying undead man and beast A final showdown with the host, stabbing and biting Until his army is set free Odin will not stop fighting Now the way is open The army leaves Helheim To return to mighty Valhalla Through towering Yggdrasil, across realms vast To once again prepare for Ragnarok

about

The Third Half is not only the most intense Burden of Ymir album yet but also the first to include lyrics and vocals. Following Odin's quest through Helheim to free unjustly captured einherjar, the Third Half contains over 50 minutes of blackened folk metal that takes the listener on an epic journey both melodic and furious.

Odin senses something amiss and finds the valkyries have been unable to locate those fallen warriors to be selected for Valhalla to join the einherjar...of course, half of those fallen should go to Freyja and half to Odin but neither is hoarding the slain. Odin ventures to consult the three norns beneath Yggdrasil and finds out Hel is involved in a scheme related to the problem; she is somehow taking the fallen meant for Valhalla for her own devices and plans for the coming of Ragnarok (she is trying to become a "third half"). Odin travels through Yggdrasil to Helheim in order to free the einherjar. Along the way he and his army face hordes of Hel's minions before Odin eventually faces off against the daughter of Loki herself. Victorious over his foe, Odin and the einherjar return to Asgard to feast and drink in the halls of Valhalla.
